OpenAI suspends ByteDance’s account for using GPT to develop an AI model.

OpenAI has suspended ByteDance’s account for violating the developer license agreement by using GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) to train its own AI model in China. ByteDance has been using GPT-generated data through Microsoft’s Azure platform, not directly through OpenAI. The suspension comes after it was reported that ByteDance had been using GPT to develop its own competing model. OpenAI has stated that all API customers must adhere to their usage policies and that they will further investigate ByteDance’s usage. If it is found that ByteDance’s usage does not comply with these policies, necessary changes will be asked for, or their account will be terminated.
