ChatGPT Gets a Major Upgrade: Free Users Now Have Access to Search Engines

OpenAI announces the rollout of ChatGPT’s search functionality to all users, enhancing user experience

OpenAI recently announced that ChatGPT’s search engine functionality is now available to all users, including free-tier users. This move allows users to access up-to-date web information during conversations without the need for a paid subscription. Previously, this feature was limited to paid users.

This update significantly improves ChatGPT’s performance on mobile devices. When conducting location-based searches, the interface will display results similar to traditional search engines, including result lists, images, ratings, operating hours, and detailed information. The app can even provide maps and route guidance directly within the application. For example, searching for “hotel booking websites” will present direct links, making it easier for users to access the information they need.

In addition, OpenAI has introduced the Advanced Voice Mode, which allows users to engage in real-time voice conversations with ChatGPT. However, this feature is currently restricted to paid subscribers. OpenAI has also unveiled its text-to-image model, Sora, and introduced the ChatGPT Pro subscription plan at $200 per month, offering users access to more advanced features.

These updates reflect OpenAI’s commitment to enhancing the ChatGPT user experience. By making search functionality available to all users, ChatGPT is evolving into a more powerful and comprehensive AI assistant, delivering instant answers, creative inspiration, and improved productivity.
